The Schedule:

Session One – Develop a compelling online portfolio

While many professional photographers spend most of their time on marketing, we should be using our skills as creative image makers to actually market ourselves and the types of work that we do much better. What you’ll learn is that social media isn’t only about trying to create a following and gain returns from it, it’s about proving to people that they should be interested in you and your work.

The best way to start marketing your photography business online is to create one center location where that people can find out more about you and your other social media profiles. It can be a blog, or an image sharing site like 500px. When you give people a central place, you give your followers a chance to follow you on every social media platform you use. This will enable them to find you and your photography easily and promote your work more. This session will show you how to create an online portfolio that accurately represents your style, and is compelling to potential clients.

This session will explore:

– Choosing a platform for your portfolio
– Defining Your Audience
– What To Include In Your online Profile
– Putting your best work first
– Optimizing your portfolio for traffic

Session Two: Create a Plan for Marketing Your Business

The promotion game is tough for so many photographers, and if anything it’s sometimes more work than actual shoots are. Promotion is part of marketing, and marketing is what professional photographers use as the bread and butter of their business. Many of them shoot less and spend more time marketing, promoting and editing than actually spending more time behind the camera.

There are so many things that you can do to get your work better recognized and therefore increase your likelihood of being hired for gigs. It’s all about being social–and we’re not just talking about social media here. This session will help you create a plan for marketing your photography in a way that grows your business.

This session will explore:

– Driving Traffic To Your Website
– Showcasing Your Photography
– Updating Potential and Current Clients

Session Three: Leverage social media to promote your work

For photographers, social media is important. It’s a level playing field and anybody can use it. Social media can become a tool to promote themselves and a validation tool to show that many folks care about their work. That then translates into getting their work into galleries, magazines, publications, campaigns, etc. Social media is a great way to find new clients, interact with potential clients and fans and find new ways to promote your work.

When it comes to being a photographer, there is no shortage of online networks waiting for you to share your images, interact with others and potentially grow your business. But what really is Social Media? Why is it so important? Which networks are best for your needs? And most importantly, what are some of the ways that you can maximize your time on each of the major networks? This session will give you a clear understanding of how photographers are using social media to grow their business, and help you create a plan for your own business.

In this web course on social media success for photographers I’ll teach you how photographers with massive followings are using strategies that get them noticed. You’ll learn some of the fundamentals behind using social media strategies for your photography business.

This session will explore:

– Growing Your Social Media Pages as a Photographer
– Using social media to make a great first impression
– Setting goals and tracking your progress.
– Strategies for filling your content funnel.
